Dear Heavenly Father. I come to you this morning Lord to give you praise and to express my gratitude for your wonderful saving and keeping power. Yet I confess to you today my spirit is troubled. I am more than ever aware of the subtlety and cunning of the devil as he seeks to deceive your children and the seemingly innocent or ignorant way they accept his lies. I read of a woman, happily married, with small children whose husband was enticed into a life of drug taking which destroyed his life and ultimately caused his death in awful circumstances. One night she had a “dream” in which she saw her husband restored to the state she first knew him. Young, healthy, strong and vibrant, running and being accepted into the arms of Jesus. Her grieving spirit rejoiced as did that of the thousands of people who read her story. But I could not believe the damnable doctrine of eternal security was once again being perpetrated and applauded in the evangelical church. Paul the Apostle warned against this assumption and was careful to call himself to task in case he should become a victim (1 Cor. 9:27. KJV) Lord where are the leaders who will teach your word in truth and where are your people who will seek themselves to interpret and absorb by your Spirit.? Open their eyes Lord, grant to them discerning spirits that they may know the truth which will set them free. Hear my prayer Lord, protect your people even from their own foolishness. In Jesus Name - Amen
Study Hall on Facebook... Read Psalm 139:17,18 Yesterday, we learned that God's thoughts are personal and precious. They are full of His purpose and care. Let's consider three additional characteristics of God's thoughts. God's thoughts are practical. Paul said, "none of these things [tribulations] move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God" (Acts 20:24). Paul was living to do one thing--finish his course. As we run the race of life, following God's thoughts leads to fulfillment, courage and the strength to continue. God's thoughts are vast and inexhaustible (v. 17). How great is the "sum of them." The Hebrew word for sum is plural. Thus, His thoughts just keep growing. People who don't want to do the will of God live their lives in a little bucket of water. But when we accept His will for our lives, we launch out on an ocean of possibility. God said to Abraham, "You walk before Me and do My will, and I am going to give you horizons like you've never seen before" (see Gen. 15:5). If you want to be a stagnant Christian, reject the will of God. You will not grow, and you will miss what He has for you. He wants to do great things in your life. God's thoughts are unfailing (v. 18). He works out His plans even while we sleep. Adam went to sleep, and God gave him a wife. Abraham went to sleep, and God worked out His covenant to him. God already has revealed things about our daily living to us by His Spirit in the Scriptures. Are you discouraged by events in your life or weary of the day's routine? Think God's thoughts by reading His Word and obey His thoughts by doing His will. He will work in your life. He will open horizons of blessing and help you along your pilgrimage.

Live so that when people get to know you they will get to know Christ.
Praying Today: About Open-mindedness… Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.” Then he (Jesus) opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. He told them, “This is what is written: The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. Luke 24:44-47 Lord Jesus, I’ve always considered myself to be a pretty “open-minded” person. Yet as I once again ponder this remarkable scene recorded in Luke’s gospel, I remember how long I wasn’t very open-minded about the most important thing and that is, seeing everything written about you throughout the Bible. My joy today is humbly to count myself among those whose minds you are opening to see more and more and more of you in every book of the Bible. My prayer today, for myself and for others, is for an even greater open-mindedness to understand all things written about you and fulfilled by you in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms. For way too many years, Jesus, I primarily related to the Law as a bunch of rules and principles by which I could earn more blessings from God and micro-manage my life for greater success. I read the Prophets with a fear of judgment, and with more intrigue about the future of Israel than an eye to see the great promises of your Person and work as the Messiah. I’ve always loved the Psalms, but until recent years, I read them more with an appreciation for King David than with adoration for you, King Jesus. Lord Jesus, help me, help all of us, to see and understand that what has been written throughout the Scriptures testifies to the riches of the gospel your death and resurrection for us, repentance and forgiveness of sins given to us, and heralded through us to our neighbors and the nations. So, we pray in your name, Jesus the name above every name, the name at which, one Day, every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that you are Lord, to the glory of God our Father! AMEN.
Study Hall on Facebook... Read Psalm 139:17,18 A. W. Tozer used to say, "The only real world is the Bible world." Nothing is more unsure than the world, for it is passing away. But the will and Word of God will abide forever (see Mark 13:31). As we consider the character of God's thoughts, we will want to do His will. God's thoughts are personal (v. 17). They concern you and me. He makes the individual and then plans for him. He knows all about us. Paradoxically, the sovereignty of God is the basis for our freedom. If He were not on the throne, this world would be run by chance. But the psalmist tells us that life is not a gamble. God put your substance together and ordained your genetic structure (vv. 13,14). We must use what He has given us for His glory. And our obedience to His will reaches beyond this life, for our future is wrapped up in God's plan for us (Jer. 29:11). God's thoughts are precious (v. 17). Precious means "weighty, valuable." His thoughts toward us are unique, tailor-made, and that makes them valuable. When we accept God's plan for us and exercise believing faith, then He can work out His perfect will in our lives. Remember, His thoughts are deep (Ps. 92:5); they are higher than ours (Isa. 55:8). God's thoughts about you are more than mere "thoughts." They include His purposes and His care. As you meditate on His thoughts, renew your commitment to know and do His will for your life.

Eventide Thoughts... Cornelius [was] a devout man and one who feared God with all his household. Acts 10:1-2 A prominent senator was dropped from the “Green Book”—the list of Washington societal elite who are invited to special functions. Why? Because he never attended the events. Instead, he went home each night to be with his family. Then he discovered he had cancer. A difficult career choice faced him. The night before he announced his decision not to run for office again, he said to his wife, “You know, the only thing I’ll probably ever be remembered for is that I loved my wife.” To which she replied, “And what’s wrong with that?” Families that are built on love, respect, and togetherness instead of social climbing or the pursuit of successful careers are a nation’s hope for survival. And when their values reflect a love for Jesus Christ, they hold a special place in God’s plan for the world. God-fearing families provide stability to individuals and nations when adversity strikes. And there’s everything right about that. Sleep Tight...Say Your Prayers!
